It is with great and terrible sadness that I have to tell you that blognation editor Marc Orchant and friend of mine passed away this afternoon.
My heart goes out to Sue and his family. I am thankful that I had the time I had with him this year. I met him face to face for the first time at Gnomedex. Since then I have learned much from him.
Oliver Starr is maintaining a page on Marc and accepting donations on behalf of his family.

I never got to meet Marc in person though we’ve conversed on ZDNet and in email for some time. His passing reminds me how tenuous our hold on life is. Please… make every day count.

I only met him in person for the first time this year, and I consider myself very, very lucky. My heart goes out to his family and NM friends, and to Oliver, Tris, and his colleagues at ZD-Net, ThinkFree and blognation. I really hoped that he would somehow wake up and say something wise and… you know, Marc-ish and taking quite a while but interesting all the way. I’m so sorry.

Today, I ran across an old message from Marc and thought to ask him to join me on Linked-in.
He was a great man and great beta tester - for our first product, FlightCheck.
My heart and prayers goes to his entire family with his loss.
He will be remembered for years to come.
Life is way too short.
